Name: Roberta Iavarone

Age: 40's

Years practicing: 2

Specialty: Bereavement, Life Transitions and Grief and Loss

Please describe yourself in 20 words or less.

I am a humanitarian at heart & love supporting people to live their best best lives & embrace a wider version of themselves.

What is a hobby you love to do in your spare time?

I adore reading, hanging out with my daughter & our two old pugs.

Why did you choose this career path?

A series of difficult life events acted as a catalyst to more closely align myself with the things I love & value. I love humanity & the potential of all humans to thrive.

Tell me about one experience which has kept you doing what you’re doing.

Humans are much more complex than labels & pathology. I love counselling because I am always growing & learning as I walk alongside my clients.

What is one piece of general advice that you would give to a client starting out their mental health journey?

For me, counselling is less about change but more about accepting & embracing more of yourself.

If you weren’t doing what you were doing, what career would you have pursued?

I honestly can't think of a single thing I would rather be doing!

What is one item in your fridge that would surprise us?

While I'm generally quite a clean living person I do keep a stash of frozen potato gems in the freezer for emergency situations.

Is there anything about you that you would like clients who are reading to know?

I would encourage people to seek help early & take their mental & emotional health in their own hands. I believe that the more self-understanding we have, the more we can influence our outer-reality.
