Taking care of brain and body, also called self-care, means being kind to yourself. Just like how you'd care for a pet, a plant, or a friend.
It's doing small things each day that help you feel great and stay strong and healthy. Think of it like recharging your superhero powers!
Self-care is like giving your brain and body a warm hug. When you take care of yourself, everything works better. Your energy, your thoughts, and even your mood can feel brighter!
Self-care helps you...
When you rest, eat well, and move your body, it’s easier to run, play, learn, and grow. You’ll have more energy for the things you love!
A well-rested brain is a smart brain! Self-care helps you concentrate at school, solve tricky puzzles, and make good choices even when things get tough.
Sometimes you might feel mad, nervous, or super sad. That’s okay! You can practice taking deep breaths, talking it out, or taking a break to help you feel better.
When you’re feeling good inside, it’s easier to be patient, kind, and helpful with others. You become a better friend, and that’s a really good thing!
Here are some ways for you to start taking care of yourself better. You can also ask a trusted adult about what they think and how they can maybe help you.
Go to bed on time so your body can rest and your brain can dream big.
Try to eat fruits and veggies in lots of colours. Doing so helps your body stay healthy and strong.
Dance, jump, play tag, or climb like a ninja! Movement helps your muscles, bones, and other parts of your body.
Draw, build, sing, or create something that makes you smile inside.
Have some quiet time to read, daydream, or breathe slowly like a calm turtle. Your brain needs rest to stay sharp.
Wash your hands, brush your teeth, and take a bath so your body feels comfy and clean.
Say nice things to yourself, like “I’m doing my best!” Practice being your own good friend.
Talk to your parent, sibling, or anybody you trust. Share what you learned and how you’ll show love and kindness to yourself today.
Take care!
