In order to check whether your nib policy covers mental health services such as counselling or psychology services, you must check your policy extras for 'mental health'. To do this you can log in to your nib account or follow the nib explainer to mental health.
How do I claim my rebate from nib?
Once you have chosen a nib approved therapist near you, you can easily book a therapy session at your desired time with them. You will need to pay for the appointment up-front. Is a psychologist also covered by nib?
Yes, you may also claim a rebate from nib when booking with a psychologist, as long as they are an approved nib provider. We've made it easy for you to see all the nib approved psychologists.
Do I need a referral to claim my rebate with nib?
No, you do not need a referral from a GP, you can simply book a session with one of Talked's nib approved therapists and then claim your rebate.
Can I claim a rebate from nib and Medicare?
No, if you claim a rebate from nib you can not also claim from Medicare. To make a claim from Medicare you must have a mental health care plan and a referral from the GP.
