Yes, all our psychologists and clinical psychologists are fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
We carefully vet all our therapists to ensure they meet our high standards of care and professionalism. You can view their qualifications on their profile before booking a session.
All our counsellors are also fully qualified and registered with either the Australian Counselling Association (ACA Level 3+) or the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA, Clinical).
Sessions range from $150 to $260 depending on the type of therapist. With a Medicare rebate, your out-of-pocket cost can be as low as $114 per 50 minute session. See our pricing page for details.
Every psychologist and counsellor on Talked must meet a strict standard of qualifications, experience and professional conduct. We only take a small percentage of applicants who apply to be on our platform.
The Talked team individually interviews each therapist and conducts reference checks to ensure they uphold the highest standards in ethical care and work.
Yes, you'll just need to ensure you have your Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral before (or on the same day) as your first session to ensure you get your Medicare rebate.
Once you've booked a session on Talked, you'll be able to access your Talked account and connect with your therapist via video call in a single click.
In your Talked account you'll be able to complete your intake form, manage reschedules and access session notes.
Your therapist will guide you through your first session, providing a safe and supportive space to talk through what's on your mind and work with you to develop a plan for moving forward.
To ensure you don't spend money on the wrong therapist, we encourage you to book a free 15 minute consultation with a therapist to see if they're a good fit before committing to a full session.

Counsellors and psychologists are both professionals who offer mental health support, often referred under the umbrella term 'therapists'. However, there are some key differences between the two professions.
Psychologists is a regulated profession under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). They are required to have a minimum of 6 years of university education, including a master's degree or higher in psychology. Psychologists are trained to diagnose and treat mental health conditions, and they often use evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
When seeing a psychologist you may be eligible for Medicare rebates.
Counsellors are not regulated by AHPRA, but all Talked counsellors are fully registered with either the ACA or PACFA. They typically have a minimum of 4 years of formal education and training, often including a bachelor's degree in counselling or a related field, and may also have additional certifications or training in specific therapeutic approaches. Counsellors provide support and guidance for a wide range of issues, but they do not diagnose mental health conditions.
When seeing a counsellor you are not eligible for Medicare rebates, but some private health insurers may offer rebates for counselling sessions.
