Does my GMHBA policy cover mental health services?
In order to check whether your GMHBA policy covers mental health services such as psychology services, you must check your policy extras for 'psychology'. To do this you can log in to your GMHBA account or follow the GMHBA guide on mental health.
How do I claim my rebate from GMHBA ?
Once you have chosen a GMHBA approved psychologist, you can easily book a psychology session at your desired time with them. You will need to pay for the appointment up-front. You can then download the invoice and submit your claim directly to GMHBA. Talked has made a clear guide to about how to claim mental health services from GMHBA.
Is a psychologist also covered by GMHBA?
Yes, you may also claim a rebate from GMHBA when booking with a psychologist, as long as they are an approved GMHBA provider. We've made it easy for you to see all the GMHBA approved psychologists.
Do I need a referral from a GP to claim my rebate with GMHBA?
No, you do not need a referral from a GP, you can simply book a session with one of Talked's GMHBA psychologists and then claim your rebate. GMHBA does not require you to obtain a referral from a GP or any other specialist before seeing a GMHBA psychologists, however, you must make sure the extras cover includes psychology.
Can I claim a rebate from GMHBA and Medicare?
No, if you claim a rebate from GMHBA you can not also claim from Medicare. To make a claim from Medicare you must have a mental health treatment plan and a referral from a GP.
