In order to check whether your Police Health policy covers mental health services such as counselling or psychology services, you must check your policy extras for 'mental health'. To do this you can log in to your Police Health account or follow the Police Health explainer to mental health.

How do I claim my rebate from Police Health?

Once you have chosen a Police Health approved therapist, you can easily book a therapy session at your desired time with them. You will need to pay for the appointment up-front. Is a psychologist also covered by Police Health?

Yes, you may also claim a rebate from Police Health when booking with a psychologist, as long as they are an approved Police Health provider. We've made it easy for you to see all the Police Health approved psychologists.

Do I need a referral from a GP to claim my rebate with Police Health?

No, you do not need a referral from a GP, you can simply book a session with one of Talked's Police Health approved therapists and then claim your rebate. Police Health does not require you to obtain a referral before seeing a Police Health approved therapist, however, you must make sure the therapist is registered with Police Health.

Can I claim a rebate from Police Health and Medicare?

No, if you claim a rebate from Police Health you can not also claim from Medicare. To make a claim from Medicare you must have a mental health care plan and a referral from the GP.
