If you want to claim your mental health benefits from CUA Health's health insurance we are here to help.

Who should I see?

Mental health professionals come in all shapes and sizes. There are many different mental health professionals that can support you in your mental health journey. For example, there are psychologists, counsellors, and social workers to psychotherapists. Learn about the distinctions between these professions in our blog post.

However, if you are specifically looking for a therapist which is recognised by CUA Health we've made it easy for you to see all the CUA Health therapists who are available right now.

Do CUA Health Extras cover mental health?

A mental health session with a therapist will only be covered by CUA Health if that therapist is CUA Health approved. CUA Health makes it clear that its members' mental health is important to the fund as members are able to claim mental health services through their extras cover. However, CUA Health members can only claim therapy sessions with a psychologist or registered CUA Health provider.

You cannot expect to claim the cost of a therapy session with a therapist that is unrecognised by CUA Health, even if you are covered for the service.

In addition to choosing an approved therapist, you must also check that your CUA Health extras cover includes mental health services. CUA Health often pays the cost of psychology and counselling on most extras and packaged covers, however, it is important to check. You can check your CUA Health cover using the link below.

Does CUA Health cover online therapy?

The mental health and well-being of CUA Health members are important to CUA Health. CUA Health recognises that online therapy provides a lot of support and assistance to the overall health of its members.

That said, it is important to check what mental health services are covered under your CUA Health cover.

Can I claim a psychologist fee on CUA Health and Medicare?

Claiming both CUA Health and Medicare is not allowed by CUA Health. If you want to make a claim for your psychologist session you will need to decide whether you claim through Medicare or your CUA Health, but not both.
